Banana Republics

Within hours of the polls opening in Nigeria, the ballots are not even in the country! This is a big country, with crap transport, and there are 120,000 polling stations needing those ballots - if you can call shacks with no ballot papers "polling stations"...

Never mind, the government won't care how people vote anyway. These elections are just to humour the "international community".

With this scale of incompetence and contempt for the electorate, Nigeria is in danger of being compared to the United Kingdom - remember the election the judge said "would disgrace a banana republic"?

Wipe that grin off your face, Tony Blair - history will be cruel. Why not try on the more fitting dumbfounded-shit-for-brains look of your Nigerian counterpart.

Hmmm... as one of your commonwealth antipodeans living under the same Westminster parliamentarian system, the most surprising thing about this is that it never made the news in Australia.

"...evidence that thousands of postal votes were stolen to be changed or filled in by Labour supporters... with the full knowledge and cooperation of the local Labour party... postal votes soared from 28,000 to 70,000 last year..."

Not a word of it Down Under.

Yet I guarantee, if someone in London gets their head stuck in a postal box while trying to steal one of those 70,000 votes, that would make the news.

Hmmm... it seems the Banana Republic and Orwellian News Dept go hand in hand

The Labour party has gone hell-for-leather to increase postal voting - or anything that makes voting easier. They even talked about people to vote by text message!

The Labour Party knows that the thicker, lazier and more incapable of getting to the polling booth a person is, the more likely they are to vote for the left. So they want to lower the bar for voting as far as possible.

Also, if they can lower the age, they will benefit. The less experience of life a person has, the fewer responsibilities they have carried, the less they have contributed to society, the farther left will be their vote.

In making it easier to vote, they have massively opened the door to fraud. Hell, they've committed the fraud themselves! But they don't care. Power is everything!

John Howards plan here in Australia is to close off the rolls at midnight on the day the poll is called giving the poor, the uneducated, the disposesed, students, people who are moving no chance to vote. This in a country that has compulsory voting. Prior to this identification requirements are being tightened. That is easier to understand, but the other stuff looks like they have been studying the US Department of Voter Disenfranchisement. Disgraceful.

I'm imagining Tony in the gear I see in your sidebar and with that hairdo.

Only 100,000 spoiled ballots in the Scottish election and some margins less than the spoiled ballots. Banana Republic stuff indeed.
