This is the religious equivalent of sticking two fingers up at the establishment. The lowest Hindu caste, Dalits (or untouchables) are telling their Hindu masters to screw themselves. No doubt throwing off generations of family history, they are converting en masse to Buddhism and Christianity.I'm sure this means something different to each individual involved. But I'd imagine they all agree that if you're in something that's wrecking your life, then get out!
To me, Christianity is liberty.

But that's the stranglehold of religion... it'll keep wrecking people's lives while they feel honour bound to stay faithful to the cause.
ReplyDeleteLoyalty is a two-edged sword. On the positive side, it is admirable. On the negative, it instills passion and commitment for erroneous ends. Loyalty, it seems, is as much a flaw of mankind as an attribute.
